SUMMARY:Round Table
DESCRIPTION:  \nOn December 6\, the Public Organization “Women and Society Association” (WSA)\, as part of the project “Enhancing Organizational Capacity by Attracting New Members”\, with the support of the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)\, held a Round Table. The main purpose of the event was to discuss the results of the project implementation\, identify the needs of potential members of the organization\, and determine the most in-demand services for WSA members.\nThe Round Table was attended by representatives of the Department for Women and Family Affairs\, regional government authorities of the Sughd region\, development partners\, public organizations\, a representative of the Private Sector Development Union of Tajikistan\, project researchers\, new members of the organization\, and independent experts.\nDuring the event\, the project coordinator\, Sh. Nurova\, presented the goals and objectives of the project. This was followed by a presentation by S. Zoirova\, who shared the successful experience of cooperation between the Private Sector Development Union of Tajikistan and its permanent members. Participants also learned about the successful practices of European associations\, which were presented by R. Kraplich\, an expert invited by CIPE.\nAnother significant component of the project was research aimed at identifying priority services for WSA members. The findings of this research were shared by independent expert H. Rasulova.\nThe final part of the Round Table involved small group discussions. Participants developed ideas to strengthen relationships between WSA\, stakeholders\, and members. They identified the needs of potential WSA members and proposed possible services for the organization’s members.

SUMMARY:Jubilee Tenth Basin Women's Forum
DESCRIPTION:  \nOn December 2\, 2024\, the “Women and Society” Association (WSA)\, in partnership with HELVETAS under the framework of the National Water Resources Management Project (NWRMP) in Tajikistan\, with financial support from the Swiss government (SDC)\, held the Jubilee Tenth Basin Women’s Forum: “Roles and Prospects for Women’s Participation in IWRM” in the Tajik part of the Syr Darya River Basin. The event aimed to enhance women’s involvement in decision-making processes. This platform provides an opportunity for women water users to expand their capabilities and advocate for women’s interests toward achieving gender equality in the water sector\, considering the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and a bottom-up approach.\nThe forum was attended by Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources\, Ms. Khudobakhsh Sharifa; First Deputy of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan\, Nurullozoda Firuza; representatives of government bodies; development partners SDC\, HELVETAS\, the International Secretariat for Water\, ACTED\, UNDP\, NGOs\, WUAs\, and farmers. Guests from Uzbekistan\, including representatives of Caritas Switzerland and CAREC\, as well as guests from Kazakhstan and a representative from the University of Geneva\, also participated in the forum.\nDuring the event\, panel discussions were held to highlight successful examples of women’s leadership in the water resource sector\, as well as strategies to overcome barriers women face. The speakers provided valuable recommendations to enhance and involve women at decision-making levels in the water sector.\nA photo exhibition was organized at the forum\, featuring drawings by schoolchildren on the theme “Water for Life”\, photographs of the Forum’s activities\, and samples of water-saving technologies.\nThe forum also developed key action directions for the Basin Women’s Forum (BWF) for 2025\, including recommendations for joint efforts and gender-sensitive actions.
